You can tell by the poop.
Some days it is fine. Some days you are scraping it off the grass. The gas that clears the room. The grass-eating. The “sensitive stomach” you have learned to plan around — the food you can’t change, the treat he can’t have, the vet visit that ended with “try a probiotic”.
Nothing dramatic. Just a gut that never quite settles. And a dog’s gut is not only about digestion: about 70% of his immune system sits there. When it is off, you see it in the poop first — then in the coat, the itching, the breath.
Most probiotics never make it past the stomach.
A probiotic only works if it arrives alive. The classic cultures on most labels — the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains — are fragile. Heat in the factory, months on a shelf, then stomach acid: a good part never reaches the gut.
Bacillus coagulans is different. It travels as a spore, inside a protective shell, and only activates once it reaches the intestine. 6 billion CFU per serving, and the count is set to hold until the end of shelf life, not just on the day the jar is made.
Then we do what a probiotic alone cannot:
Four prebiotics — inulin, FOS, MOS and XOS, 700 mg — feed the good bacteria so they settle in instead of passing through. Most chews have one, or none.
A postbiotic — heat-killed Bacillus subtilis fermentate, 100 mg — the beneficial compounds good bacteria produce, already made. Support from day one, no waiting for a colony to grow.
Pumpkin, 300 mg of gentle fibre, for stool consistency. Yeast beta-glucan, 80 mg, for normal immune function.

Look at the stool first: that is where a probiotic usually shows, often within the first two weeks. Gas and odour tend to follow. Give it the full 30 days before you judge it — the flora needs time to settle. If nothing has changed after 30 days, write to us.

When good bacteria work, they produce useful compounds — short-chain fatty acids, enzymes, cell-wall fragments. A postbiotic is those compounds, already made and stabilised, so the gut gets the benefit from the first chew instead of waiting for bacteria to multiply. Ours is a heat-killed Bacillus subtilis fermentate, 100 mg per serving.

Nothing, if it arrives alive. The problem is that most classic strains are fragile: heat, time on the shelf and stomach acid kill a good part of them before they reach the gut. Bacillus coagulans travels as a spore, in a protective shell, and activates in the intestine. That is why we chose it, and why we can hold 6 billion CFU to the end of shelf life.

It is made for exactly that dog. Two tips: start with half the daily amount for the first three or four days, and give it with a meal. A little extra gas in the first days is the flora adjusting; it passes.

Yes, and it is a good moment to start. Give the chews a few hours apart from the antibiotic, and keep going for at least two weeks after the course ends, when the gut needs the most help to rebuild. If your vet has a different plan, follow the vet.

We are not going to promise you the itch is coming from the gut; it has many causes. But about 70% of a dog’s immune system sits in the gut, and a balanced flora plus beta-glucan support normal immune function. If the itch comes with a sensitive stomach, this is the first thing we would try.
